Review
Oh hi, hello there. I’m back with a whole new collection of cookbooks to enjoy. Let’s start with Gourmet!! Oooooh Fancy!
This review, just like this cookbook, is a gosh darned TIME WARP. I started the review in July and it’s JANUARY now. This book came out in 2002 and it’s 2025 now!
Auntie really wanted to love this one! With it’s gorgeous cover, breadth of recipes, and unique event-centric layout, it has potential for a certain ooomph. Unfortunately, that flair did not translate into the pages.
What I dislike about it primarily is how undiscoverable it is! The recipes are good, albeit a little boring, but you have to go through every celebration to find what you want. Ugh.
What you’ll find here is maybe more a tabletop book of recipes, not all together helpful with your next big meal. A Bohemian Thanksgiving, Russian Easter Feast, or a section called Reimagining Gigi… you have to go through the pages and perhaps dog-ear your favourite - or else you’ll never find them again.
